Some tips to pass on to your client: DO Research before buying. The quickest and easiest way to research is by searching online. There are many websites dedicated to wedding dresses where she can get a ton of useful information about styles, designs, trends, etc.
DO Shop early! Avoid the “Two Weeks till Wedding Day Attack.”
DO Go to a wedding dress specialist. She should visit several wedding boutiques, and learn from the pros. Of course, keep in mind that they are selling, so she should take everything with a grain of salt.
DO Expect minor alterations. Even the most expensive designer wedding gowns might need a few adjustments. If she buys her gown well in advance, she may need to alter the dress again a couple of weeks prior to the wedding.
DO Keep an open mind while she shops for her wedding dress. Try lots of things on. Often the dress she thought she’d never like is the one that makes her look and feel the best.
DO Bring shoes with heels the same height as her wedding shoes will have on her special day.
DO bring the underwear that she intends to wear on her wedding day to the final couple of fittings so she can be sure that seams, straps and knicker lines don’t show.
DO enjoy it!
DON’T panic if she has to special order! Wedding dress shops can special order her dress faster than she can say “panic”.
DON’T put up with unfriendly sales people. This is her wedding day: her big purchase. The sales person who sells her wedding dress to her should share in her enthusiasm and make it exciting for her.
DON’T shop after she has bought. Instead enjoy the rest of her wedding planning.
DON’T give up! Finding that perfect wedding dress is going to take some work.
DON’T take too many people with her on her hunt for her wedding dress. Take a good friend or family member who likes shopping, knows her style and whose opinion she appreciates.
